Cash in Playing Cash Games

Cash tables are a great way to get straight into the action. At the cash tables you can play as little or as much as you want and leave the table any time with your winnings.
There are six Game Types of cash games you can play and various types of limits are described below:

Game Types

Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is by far the most popular form of poker. Once described by the great grandfather of modern poker, Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson, as "The Cadillac of Poker".

Two cards are dealt face down to each of the players at the table. A round of betting is then concluded before the first three ‘community' cards are dealt face up in a sequence also known as the ‘flop'.

Another round of betting is then concluded on the flop, followed by two more rounds of betting on the fourth and fifth cards known as the ‘Turn' and the ‘River' before all hands are revealed.

Omaha

Omaha is very similar to Hold'em with the main difference that you are dealt four cards instead of two.

The same betting and number of community or board cards are dealt but you may only use two from your hand and three from the board.

A lot of first-time players make the mistake of not remembering that simple rule when they play Omaha and it can sometimes be a costly lesson.

As every hand has four cards rather than two, a lot more betting takes place because everyone believes they have a good hand. Omaha is only played at Pot Limit and No Limit. See below for more details on betting limits.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Just like Omaha with the exception that the highest and lowest hands split the pot. The low hand must be five cards (two from your hand and three from the board) and the high hand, eight or less. If you are lucky enough to win both the high and low hand this is known as scooping the pot. A good hand in Omaha Hi-Lo is A, A, 2, 3.

7-Card Stud

Unlike the other more common Game Types of poker such as Texas Hold'em and Omaha, in stud games the lowest card must pay the ante although it's sometimes referred to as the ‘bring-in'.

If there is a tie where more than one player has the same low card, a suit ranking will be used to determine the low card as follows: diamonds (lowest) followed by clubs, hearts, and spades (highest).

The player to the right of the bring-in is the first to act and the action will continue clockwise around the table. Each player is dealt three cards, the first two face-down and the third face-up for all the players to see. Betting rounds continue on the fourth, fifth and sixth card, all face up. During the final round of betting, the seventh card is placed face-down.

5-Card Stud

5-Card Stud is one of the oldest Game Types of poker and often known because of its use in many old Western cowboy films. 5-Card Stud follows the same rules as 7-Card with the only difference being that the first card is dealt face-down. Because there is only one hand that is face-down, the majority of the hands don't reach the showdown status.

Razz

Razz is another form of stud poker where the lowest hand wins and straights and flushes do not count against the player's hand. The betting and hand lay-out is the same as 7-Card Stud poker (the first, second and seventh cards are dealt face-down).

The best possible hand in Razz would be 5, 4, 3, 2, A.

Go Tournamental - 'Sit and Go' or Scheduled Tournaments

There are two different types of tournament available at Gala Casino Poker.

There are single table tournaments sometimes referred to as ‘Sit N Gos' and Multi-Table Tournaments referred to as MTTs.

Single Table Tournaments

Single table tournaments start when enough players have paid and taken a seat. The seat numbers can range from heads up, 6s, 10s and sometimes higher amount. All pay-out amounts are clearly visible in the poker lobby before you register.

Check out our BIG money Progressive Sit N Go Tournaments: Fort Knox $50k, Rio $30k, Maui $15k & Dirty Dozen $2k.

Multi-Table Tournaments

Multi-Table Tournaments are different in that they have a definite start time and can often carry larger pay-outs due to the number of entries.

Some of the Multi-Table Tournaments carry some exceptions which you won't find in the single table tournaments. These differences can be the ability to re-buy once you have lost all your chips or the option to purchase an add-on at the end of the re-buy stage.

A re-buy means you can buy more chips if you are low or even knocked out whereas an add-on is buying more chips after the re-buy stage.

The add-on is normally the same amount of chips as your original starting stack and you can check all the details before you register for a tournament in the registration lobby section.

Some tournaments have a guaranteed set amount, meaning if enough players don't register the prize pool will still stay the same amount.

Betting Limits

Fixed Limit Poker

Fixed Limit games are games where a fixed betting structure is applied. For example, in a $3-$6 game, the bets and raises pre-flop and on the flop are $3 each, and the bets and raises on the River are $6 each.

No Limit Poker

No Limit really burst on to the scene with the launch of internet poker around 2002-03. It's by far the most chosen choice of game allowing a player to bet as little as possible or their entire stack if they choose to do so. Betting your entire stack is often referred to as going "All-in".

Pot Limit

Pot Limit is often played in the game of Omaha where the player to act can bet up to the amount of the pot in the middle and including any previous bets. For example, if there is $100 in the pot and the previous player to act had bet $50, the maximum you would be able to raise by would be $150.

Play more, get more. It's not rocket science...

  • Earn Poker Player Points
  • Reach higher and higher VIP Levels
  • Earn Multiplier Poker Player Points Booster Rewards
  • Exchange Poker Player Points for cash!

Not only that, but Gala Casino Poker is the only Poker room that awards you the same number of points no matter what currency you play in:

20 for 1 USD >26 for 1 Euro >30 for 1 GBP

GALA STATUS POINTS AND POKER PLAYER POINTS *

With each real money game in which you participate, the more Gala Status Points and Poker Player Points (PPPs) you earn.

At real cash tables, Points are awarded to players for each hand in which they contribute money to the pot. Points are not awarded if a hand is not raked. Points are also awarded based on the fees paid by the player when buying-in to a real cash tournament.

Gala Status points

For every $1 of rake or tournament fee, you will receive 20 Gala Status Points.

Gala Status Points are used by us to determine your VIP Level. You'll also see that our bonuses are released based on the number of Status Points you earn - see our First Deposit Bonus offer for how this works in practice.

In a player guarantee unique to Gala Casino Poker, no matter what currency you're playing in (on a GBP or Euro table) we will award you 20 Gala Status Points in either currency to the equivalent of $1.

Poker Player Points

Poker Player Points (PPPs) can be found in your "My Poker" section of your account.

When you first register for poker, you'll earn PPPs at the same rate as Status Points.

As your number of Gala Status Points increases, and therefore your VIP level, the rate at which you earn PPPs will multiply thanks to our Poker Player Points (PPP) booster. See the VIP level table below for bonus booster details.

PPPs are points which you can redeem for cash bonuses at your VIP level.

The higher your VIP level the better redemption rate you get for your PPPs. It's as simple as that.

VIP LEVELS

As you move up the VIP levels you will also qualify for a Multiplier Poker Player Points Booster meaning the PPPs you earn are multiplied as shown in the table below:

VIP LEVEL Gala Status Points Required Per Month Multiplier Poker Player Points Booster
Level 1 – High Card 0 1
Level 2 – Pair 50 1.1
Level 3 – Two Pair 200 1.2

Level 6 – Flush 20,000 1.5
Level 7 – Full House 50,000 1.6

For example, if you earned 5,000 Gala Status Points during one month and at VIP Level 5, you would also earn 7,000 Poker Player Points (5,000 x 1.4).

Each level has its own progressive redemption rate dependent on its Multiplier Poker Player Points Booster figure as shown below:
