Chronicles of Olympus X UP

Chronicles of Olympus X UP is the latest offering from Microgaming partners Alchemy Gaming featuring their X UP concept. This first appeared in the studio’s Africa X UP slot and proved very popular among players. 

Chronicles of Olympus X UP is just as polished graphically as Africa X UP, but the studio have done more than just swap the savannah for the heavens of Olympus for this release, with the X UP trail offering much higher ways to boost potential wins.

There are ten regular pay symbols on the 5x3 grid. This setup gives the players 243 paylines since three or more matching symbols anywhere on adjacent reels form a win. As long as the combo starts on the leftmost reel that is.  

The 9 to A card rank are the low pays, and five Greek deities, possibly Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite, Poseidon, and Hades are the premiums. Landing five of these symbols will win the player between 2.33 and 4 times the bet, but this figure can be hugely enhanced, as I'll explain later.  

The Wild is a very serious-looking Greek deity type, possibly Zeus with many god-like powers. Although why he has an upside-down anchor on his forehead, I couldn't tell you. Anyway, he'll stand in for all the regular symbols to help try and form wins while expanding to fill the entire reel, losing his beard in the process, strangely enough. He also awards prizes of his own for combinations of three or more. 

The Scatter is the X UP symbol. This is key to the big wins in this game in two ways. First, it acts as a normal Scatter, triggering the Free Spins when three or more land. But when just two land, an X UP symbol is awarded, moving the player further up the X UP trail at the side of the grid.

The Wilds can land on any reel, and since they are expanding, this means any spin in the base game can result in multiple Wild reels, with the possibility of the whole grid turning Wild, and I don't need to explain what that means in terms of wins. 

As Scatter, eight free spins are triggered when 3 X UP symbols are in view. During the Free Spins bonus round, two scatters landing don't just add to the X UP metre. They also add two more Free Spins to the remaining total.  

As I mentioned earlier, two Scatters move the player up the X UP trail. Each position on this is a multiplier, and the multiplier in the last position the player has reached kicks in at the start of the Free Spins to boost all wins. There are eight positions in total on the trail, with multipliers starting at 2 x and climbing all the way to 50 x. The trail is still active in the Free Spins, so the win multiplier can keep climbing during the round. 

Chronicles of Olympus X UP can get very interesting very quickly when the Free Spins kick in, and the X UP multiplier activates.
