Table Games

While online slots can be entertaining, I like to mix things up every now and again by playing some table games too. There are plenty of choices when it comes to this type of online casino game. However, I like sticking to the basics. Below is a list of my favourite table games, including basic information about how each one works.

Blackjack

Blackjack is a staple of casino table games. Unlike every other game on this list, Blackjack requires an element of skill. There is a set strategy, known as ‘basic strategy’, that has mathematically been proven to offer optimal results over time. However, the house does still have an advantage, even if a player is following this strategy to the smallest detail.

The main aim of this game is to get as close to 21 as possible. Each player starts with two face-up cards, with the dealer only showing 1. The game will start with the player immediately to the left of the dealer, with action progressing clockwise. It's up to each player to decide whether to 'hit', which means take another card or 'stand' with what they have already. However, if a player busts their hand (goes over 21) or is beaten by the dealer, their bet is lost.

Roulette

This table game involves players betting on either the number or colour of the section that the roulette ball lands on. After betting time has concluded, the roulette wheel will spin before the ball is then released. While there are a few different variations of Roulette that have been created over the years, American and European Roulette are the two most popular.

The main difference between the two is the number of zeros on the wheel itself, which sits at two on the American version and one on the European version. Personally, I prefer to play the European variant, which has an RTP of 98.37%, substantially higher than the 94.74% RTP of the American alternative.

Baccarat

Now to take a look at the final card game on this list, Baccarat. There are three main betting options when playing Baccarat; player, banker, and tie. However, like with many other table games, there are also various side bets that players can lay chips on.

The player and banker options represent two different hands, with cards being dealt to each after the betting period has commenced. In Baccarat, the main aim is to bet on the hand with the highest score, with 9 being the maximum. Should the value of a hand exceed 9 and reach double digits, only the second digit will be used.

For example, 18 would become 8, 19 would become 9, and so on. The values of cards in Baccarat are exactly as displayed on the card, apart from 10, J, Q, and K, which equal 0. Also, Aces are valued at 1.

Craps

Out of all the table games on this list, Craps has the most unique variation of betting options, in my opinion. It didn't take me too long to learn the rules. However, reading a guide before playing any game is always the approach I take. Craps isn't a game of skill, but knowing the potential bets and rules is still an important aspect.

This table game revolves around throwing two dice, with players betting on the outcome. There are options to bet on the exact total, with side bets such as 'Big Six, Big Eight' covering multiple outcomes.
